International Youth Day Message

At Zero Hour today, I highlighted that Tomorrow, 12 August, is International Youth Day. This year’s theme is “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” According to Nepal’s definition, people between the ages of 16 and 40 are considered youth, making up approximately 43% of Nepal’s population. In the current Parliament, around 38% of MPs are young, while two-thirds of the Cabinet are youth. Our Prime Minister is also the youngest serving Prime Minister in the world. This is an incredibly encouraging sign of generational transition. Youth participation in governance is not merely about numbers - it is about ensuring that our perspectives, skills, and ability to offer solutions are reflected in decision-making processes. To all Nepali youth, both in Nepal and around the world, please continue contributing to nation-building through your energy, with a strong awareness of your rights along with a strong sense of responsibility and positive, solution-oriented participation🫶 May Nepal’s youthful generational transition become an example for the world!
