Participation in the Thematic Discussion of the Chalchitra Bidheyak (Cinema Bill)
During the clause-by-clause discussion on the Film Bill, I welcomed the Bill's effort to modernise Nepal's film sector by reflecting the realities of the digital era and strengthening the Film Development Board as an autonomous regulatory body. I also highlighted the need for clearer definitions, transparent and merit-based appointments to the Board, and a dedicated regulatory framework for OTT and digital streaming platforms. In addition, I called for clear content classification guidelines, greater transparency in censorship decisions, and the establishment of a Film Fund to support the sustainable growth of Nepal's film industry. These recommendations were aimed at creating a modern, transparent, and future-ready legal framework that supports creativity while strengthening Nepal's film industry.
