House of Representatives,

International airports are often the first and last impression visitors have of a country. Around the world, airports serve as marketplaces that showcase national identity through local products, food, and handicrafts. However, Nepal's international airport has yet to fully utilise this opportunity to promote products that reflect the country's culture, creativity, and craftsmanship.

During a Zero Hour address in the House of Representatives, I raised the need to strengthen the visibility of Made in Nepal products at Tribhuvan International Airport. I emphasised that dedicated retail space should be provided for Nepali products, particularly those produced by local and marginalised communities, so they can be presented with quality, dignity, and pride as part of Nepal's national identity.

Recommendations:

  1. Allocate dedicated retail space for Made in Nepal products in all commercial outlets at Tribhuvan International Airport.
  2. Prioritise products made by local entrepreneurs, artisans, and marginalised communities.
  3. Present Nepali products through high-quality branding and attractive displays that reflect Nepal's identity.
  4. Integrate local products into Nepal's tourism and nation-branding strategy.
  5. Promote the "Made in Nepal, Made for the World" vision through airport retail and visitor experiences.
