House of Representatives,
Nepal's tourism potential is immense, but our institutions must be equipped to realise it. During a Zero Hour address in the House of Representatives, I raised concerns about the current state of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), particularly its weak digital presence, fragmented branding, and the urgent need for institutional reform.
Based on stakeholder consultations and field visits, I highlighted that strengthening Nepal's tourism promotion requires more than policy commitments. It requires a capable institution with professional leadership, transparent recruitment, and a performance-driven work culture that can effectively position Nepal as a world-class tourism destination.
Key Recommendations:
- Undertake structural reforms to strengthen the Nepal Tourism Board.
- Ensure transparent, merit-based recruitment of capable and creative professionals.
- Introduce clear performance indicators (KPIs) and accountability mechanisms.
- Strengthen Nepal's tourism branding through improved digital platforms, marketing, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Expedite the appointment and recruitment process to ensure timely institutional reform.
